After two weeks, we still have boxes scattered around the apartment, cable but no internet, a new fridge but the eye sore of the old fridge is still present in the kitchen and the kitchen outlets are still not working. As for our DIY box spring, well it worked out after a bunch of kinks. But it is being held together by ropes! I went to bed with the fear of falling over. Somehow I managed not to stress myself out over these things. It's been tough juggling work, school, appointments and finances with this big move. And I am still peeved that it took Verizon from 9 am to almost 9 pm to hook us up with cable but not internet...huy!
Life Lesson 924
Never buy large furniture if you live on the third floor. It's heavy and most of the time you can't even fit it through the door way!
If you decide on building anything, make sure you get the correct measurements!
Make sure you secure the toilet seat properly so the fat man who installs your FIOS doesn't break it.
Lastly, don't buy perishables until after you get a new fridge or the fruit flies will have a field day.
I can tell you right now, we won't be moving again anytime soon!

Balloon Ball Gown
Today I decided to dress up as a constipated balloon for my mom. She wanted me to try on a tacky top of the line Cambodian version of a bridal gown. I looked like a Balloon because I was wearing a super duper puffy skirt and constipated, because of the pain brought about by the equally hideous heels I had to wear with it. Good grief, I thought my foot was going to snap in half as my entire weight pulled down on it. I swear the women who designed the outfit are masochists by nature. Thank You Cambodian Relatives for the humiliating moment of the day. I am happy to be wearing flip flops and jeans again. As for my future bridal gown, it will NOT include puffy layers of organza or break-your-feet stilettos.
Note to self: Mom is not comming shopping with me for dresses.

9/11
I've visited NYC on many occasions but I have never taken a picture of the Empire State building or the Statue of Liberty. I just always assumed they would forever be in the New York City skyline. Same with the Flatiron building and the World Trade Center. Of course I never imagined that a terrorist attack would take down the twin towers. Nobody did.
I don't have anything purposely planned to post for today's 8th Anniversary. No poems, graphics or song passages. Nothing of the sort. This isn't because I've forgotten or that I don't care anymore, because that isn't true. It is because life, particularly as an American, was forever altered that day. It may not be with flags or eagles and constant images of the day but with the choices and events of our lives. The new rules, the new laws, the endless debates and the wars... Our daily lives and concerns, our choices, our actions. Our thoughts. Our mentalities. Everything for now on has a little shadow of 9/11 written on it. That is a reminder we will live with everyday as Americans.

Between Classes
I got 20 mins...
I wish I was at home playing Spanish on Rosetta Stone or even cleaning up the house, packing away our things for the move. Yes, we are moving again. Another place but the same city scape, only in a more residential part of town. We will have more space including a room for writing, reading, singing and dancing. I'm happy to be moving but I will definitely miss our old place, so much character built into these walls. My favorite has always been the built in book shelf, his and her closets and the ceramic tile painting of an exotic bare breast woman. She always greets me in the morning when I wash my face. I want to take her with us but that means I will have to take apart the wall and the FI will not have that. What I won't miss is the noisy hustle and bustle of city life and our annoying neighbor and his equally annoying and fugly dog, no-name mutt. Moving though is quite stressful. I've been packing away our non-essentials and realize just how much stuff we have and I don't even think we have a great deal of stuff. It will be fun lugging up all the wonderful pieces of our life and reassembling the puzzle all over again. Another opportunity to decorate!
I've been so busy with school this past week I've neglected the household chores and myself. No time for eye brow threading or a facial this week. Although my trip to the orthodontist was semi successful. Earlier I scoured the internet for a particular beauty product that seems to be sold out everywhere. I hate cosmetic companies. They get you addicted to the perfect nail polish or facial creme and than 6 months later decide to discontinue it. So now you have to buy your favorite color or scent in bulk like you are storing up for the Apocolypse. I do need to stop shopping as I already spent quite a bit of moolah this week on everything from school books to purchasing a lovely French Provencial desk from Craigslist. It does match our bedroom set and I just fancy old things that my heart was set on it before I even saw it. The purchase was more of a steal than a deal for $40. I do need to refocus funds on more important things. Like school, bills and saving for a nice trip. Speaking of trips, we are going to Maine for the weekend to celebrate the 100 days since my grandfather's passing. I hope to see family and old friends while I am there.
