I shaved a dying man the other day. He had been in a coma for sometime but the reality of him dying didn’t really sink in until I started shaving him. Maybe the intimate experience of shaving another person really brings you a little closer to them. While I was shaving him, I was half listening to the TV. A Tide commercial came on saying, how few things in our lives are more tragic than watching a great piece of clothes fade in the wash.
I looked at the face in front of me. This was the face of a man who will never open his eyes and see the world again. This was the face of a man who has lived a life, who has people that he loves and who loves him. The face I am shaving so he looks more like himself when his family comes back to take him off life support. I looked into his face and thought "WTF is wrong with society when a statement of tragedy is used in a detergent commercial to relate to the wear and tear of clothes…and most people don't even bat an eyelash?" It was a perfectly typical sounding commercial, and that was the problem I had with it.
Huy…riding the crimson wave makes me so damm emo.

Spring: Pretty in Pink
I stumbled upon these amazing handmade items featured on Rare Bird Finds, a unique resource site dedicated to finding hidden gems and nifty knick knacks. Most of the items found on the site are artsy pieces, handmade or one of kind. These dainty fashion accents are really girlie but they are perfect for the casual chic, who is looking to add some spice to her wardrobe. A stylish emerald peacock head band with silk orchids add a lovely feminine touch and the vibrant colors of the Japanese print clutch and granny style bag sing spring fling. I absolutely heart the chiffon flower pony tail wrap. I might just get one in every color of the rainbow (to match with my crazy collection of colored socks). I can totally rock em with the Nomad Umbrella rain boots I wanted for my birthday. All these fun prints and bright colors will surely chase away the gray dullness left behind by winter.

oOh la la~

Boudoir Photography can be described as sensual and sexy. Often times these photos reveal an intimate portrait of a woman, capturing her beauty in settings that are romantic and dreamy. The pictures are sexually provocative yet very tasteful. They are total glam shots and not to be confused with the raunchy spreads in a Maxim magazine. Nowadays it’s all the rage for brides to give Boudoir photos to their fiancĂ© as a pre-wedding gift. But my reasons to have them done are more for me than for him. As my 24th birthday approaches, I decided to have them taken as a celebration of my womanhood and youth. I know this sounds rather vain and narcissistic but I rarely take photos of myself, much less any professional glamour shots. Eons from now, I’ll be able to look back on these boudoir photos and appreciate what I had before gravity caught up with me :-). I came across Rachel Hardiashar from Merge Weddings and immediately fell in love with her work. She turns Boudoir photos into fine art photography. I admire her artistic vision and unique style in taking pictures. I’m looking forward to booking a private session with her in the near future.

Lonely Heart...
It's never been easy being apart. The loneliness is just inescapable... There are times when I feel an ache in my heart, not a metaphoric ache but a real physical ache that leaves me wide awake at night. If only he could lie in my bed and look up at the ceiling, because it's all there, collected in a heavy cloud of worry and lined not with silver but heartache.
I wonder if these weekend outings and getaways will become more frequent in the future and if they will inevitably invite disaster into our relationship. I just miss him so much...

Let them eat cake!
The wedding cake is one of my favorite parts of a wedding. After all the cake is the centerpiece of a reception, and is one of the first things guests see as they arrive. So the first glimpse of the wedding cake is a very dramatic and awe worthy moment. It is also one of the last items served at a wedding reception. The guests will likely take the memory of the cake with them. But most important is the beautiful tradition of the cake cutting ceremony, which symbolizes the couple's commitment to sharing a life with each other. However, it is the creative concepts and artistic designs of a wedding cake that I find the most impressive. After watching Amazing Wedding Cakes religiously on WEtv, I've learned to appreciate and respect the bakers/artist involved in creating these decadent works of art. I particularly love whimsical and non traditional cakes, they are total eye candy. The excellent attention to details and the imaginative approach to designing a cake is worthy of great praise. Of course I've tasted beautiful cakes that lacked in flavor so to have both without compromise is truly amazing. I am lucky to be invited to a cake tasting next week with Sprinkles Fine Desserts. I'm wicked excited about it. Party in my mouth lol
